Vorliegende Scheibe ist der erste Longplayer der amerikanisch-deutschen Formation "Challenge". Als Gastmusiker an den keyboards, am Bass sowie an den Drums fungieren erfahrene Leute, die schon mit Jackson Browne, Sheryl Crow, Steve Vai und Alice Cooper im Studio bzw. auf Tour waren.

Die Musik von Challenge passt wohl am ehesten in die AOR und Melodic Rock Sparte, denn sie besteht größtenteils aus weiblichem Gesang, Akustikgitarre, Bass, Drums und gelegentlichen Klavier- und Hämmond-Begleitungen. Allison lehrt Gesang in L.A. und hat u.a. Jungs wie Axl Rose, Dave Mustaine und Dan Huff Stimmgabel und Luftpumpe an den Rachen gesteckt. Ihre Stimme passt hervorragend zum Akustik-Rock, ist angenehm, treffsicher und kann ohne Gewissenbisse zur Spitze der AOR-Voices gezählt werden.

Auch Arno's Gitarrenarbeit ist ausgezeichnet und vor allem songdienlich. Wie es sich für akustikbasierte Rock gehört bleibt sich jeder Song treu und bietet grundsolide Ryhtmen.

Highlights der CD sind insbesondere das effektiv verorgelte Angel's scared to fly, das angenehm beschwingte Finding my way, das bluesig stampfige It's my life, sowie der Schlußtrack Don't look back, der erstmals mehstimmige Elemente aufbringt.

Wer auf gut gemachten Gitarren-Rock mit minimalem Blues-Touch steht und z.b. Sheryl Crow oder die Mannheimer Scarlet Rose im Schrank stehen hat, der ist mit Challenge bestens beraten ! 100%ig meine Stilrichtung ist es nicht, daher schleicht sich nach 20 Minuten bei mir etwas Langeweile ein , obwohl die Songs immer schön anzuhören sind, daher aus meiner Sicht 6 Punkte

Allison Lindsay who is training vocal strengthening and vocal development in L.A. and Arno Verstappen who is born in the Netherlands represent the band melodic rock / acoustic guitar rock band "Challenge". Guest musicians appearing on this cd are experienced people who played studio sessions and tours with artists like Jackson Browne, Sheryl Crow, Steve Vai and Alice Cooper.

The music of Challenge is melodic rock/AOR ... or to be more precise: acoustic guitar, very good female vocals, solid bass, solid drums and some piano/hammond-parts. So if you like melodic rock with some slight blues influences (like Sheryl Crow, Jaime Kyle or Scarlet Rose) then you might fall in love with this debut album which for sure is a great acoustic guitar-based rock release.

As I am not a die hard fan of aor and guitar rock I find this cd very nice to hear but it lacks some excitement from track 5 to track 8. Perhaps two "heavier" tracks would have added more dynamics but then the album wouldn't create it's nice acoustic universe. 6 points (from my subjective metal point of view)
